The world is now an unbalanced place. The once clean, green lands that the Avatar protected are now polluted with darkness. The General of all four lands can no longer be found, but the three remaining forces hope to reunite and restore peace within the world by recruiting new airbending children to battle against the increasing threat of airbending-using machines. It was always believed that it took years for one to master airbending techniques. But with the Earth Kingdom currently in ruins, airbending is needed to save it. Aang had mastered all four elements before his disappearance, but he did not disappear alone. Aang was joined by his friend Yangchen, who sacrificed herself to save Aang from the poison of Ozai's comet. Although her spirit has vanished, she has left behind some tokens of her time on earth: a glider staff and her necklace (which was also created by Aang while he was talking to his past life). The necklace broke in half during the battle with Ozai. Aang later gave one half to Katara while he kept the other half for himself. It also plays an important role in the second movie. The Fire Nation has been trying to conquer the entire world for years, but to no avail. After the death of his father and son, Zuko is trying not to let anything hurt him in the same way again. His mother is still battling against an illness caused by Zuko's sister; he wants nothing more than to find a cure for her, and she urges him to finish up his search for his sister and restore peace in this war-torn world. Ozai's comet has fallen onto Earth, and the Fire Nation is afraid of the Avatar's return. The Fire Lord has sent out people to find him, but none have returned. Zuko wants to get rid of this menace once and for all, so he sends people to find Aang. Katara is still in love with Aang after his disappearance, but she is afraid for him. She knows that if he returned before she did, they could be lovers again; however, she refuses to think about it while he is still missing. She does not want any more pain between them after what they went through while caring for Appa (he was ill), because it will make her feelings too strong. She goes through a lot of emotional turmoil as she watches her friends search for Aang, and her past memories of her meeting with Aang at the beginning of the series are replayed in her mind, causing many to believe that she has lost all hope. However, it turns out that she only wants to know what happened to him because she still loves him, but cannot accept it. She continues searching for him because the pain will subside eventually. Kuei is still trying to teach Zuko how to be a better person even though he was powerless before his father died. cfa1e77820
