It's really one of the best movies I've seen this year and I highly recommend it. It has everything; it has comedy, romance, tragedy and most importantly, realism. The highlight of the movie is its narrative technique- despite being in English, most dialogues are narrated in Hindi (the protagonist's mother tongue). This technique sets up an interesting dimension for the film because instead of seeing things through our protagonist's eyes; we see them through his mother's eyes who has an entirely different worldview altogether. The story is set in New Delhi. A young boy named Gaurav visits the city with his mother Rishika for the first time. They have some troubles at the airport but eventually, they reach their destination. There, Gaurav's father Meeta and older sister Varsha live with their grandmother. The family has a long-term financial troubles and barely survives on the little money they get from their farm and a small factory run by Meeta’s brother 'Madhup'. One day, Gaurav goes to visit his father at work but without success as he misses Meeta's shift at work. He is told by his grandmother that there is no work in the village and they will have to stay back in New Delhi. When he tells her about having seen his father at work, she goes berserk and the family has some serious arguments. Meeta later prevents Gaurav from going out when he sees him playing cricket which angered Rishika. The family hits a bad patch when they try to start a business in a field but without much success. In an argument with Meeta, Rishika leaves the house to stay with her husband in another village. Meanwhile, Gaurav stays out late at night with his friends and soon returns home drunk. He is seen by his mother who slaps him hard for being drunk. When she returns home after work, he is lying unconscious on the dining table. She calls an ambulance to take him to hospital but when she reaches there, her husband tells her that he is at work. He also tells her that they have no money for Gaurav's treatment and that they can't afford it. She struggles to save money for Gaurav’s treatment but with no luck, eventually gets exhausted and returns home, worried about what happened to him. That night, she tries talking with Varsha about the situation but Varsha refuses to listen and goes off somewhere. Gaurav is taken to another hospital and brought back to the village with his mother. There, he is diagnosed with a brain tumour. His mother rushes him to a hospital in Delhi but after funding it completely, she realises that she could not afford to stay there long enough. Gaurav's uncle and aunt try calling Rishika everyday and eventually convince her that they haven’t seen Gaurav at all and therefore, must have been sent away from New Delhi. The family moves back home where Gaurav battles for his life. In the final part of the movie, Rishika visits Gaurav in the hospital every day as he struggles for his life. cfa1e77820
